The People vs The Lion King

The People vs The Lion King

Caution! Our podcast is chock full of spoilers!

You never realize just how much influence ol’ Bill Shakespeare has until you hear that The Lion King (the Disney favorite that finished its theatrical run as the highest grossing release of ‘94, the second highest grossing film of all time, the highest grossing traditionally animated film of all time, 2-time Oscar winning, Golden Globe winning film that sparked 2 TV series and 3 sequels) was inspired, in part, by Hamlet.

And by partly, we mean kinda. Like, really, barely.

Perhaps the greatest honor bestowed upon this film is that it was hand selected by us, the Drama Mamas, to cover in this, our newest episode.

Was TLK one of your faves growing up? Is Hamlet near and dear to your heart? Let us know!

And if you’re thinking of drafting a strongly worded email to the CEO of Taco Bell, Brian Niccol, because they can bring us nacho fries but not chili cheese burritos, we’re with you. But, still. Don’t. Save that drama for us, the Drama Mamas.
